The Origins of Sin In The World
The origin of sin in the Bible is traces back to the story of Adam and Eve in the book of Genesis. When God created the first humans, Adman and Eve, He placed them in the Garden of Eden where they could enjoy all the fruits and blessings of creation.
God commanded them not to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, for they would surely die. Yet by temptations of the serpent, both Adam and Eve disobeyed God’s instructions.
As a result of their disobedience, sin entered the world, and they experienced shame, guilt, and separation from God. They were banished from the Garden of Eden and forced to live in a fallen world, where sin and death reign. The consequences of their sin continue to affect all of humanity to this day.
Whether or not the story actually took place or was more of a metaphorical description of man’s nature to sin, we see that sin originated, as a consequence of human disobedience and the rejection of God’s commandments.
It is an inherent part of human nature and is manifested in our thoughts, words, and deeds. However, the Bible also teaches that through faith in Jesus Christ, we can be forgiven and reconciled to God, and that we can overcome sin through the power of the Holy Spirit.
The Doctrine of Original Sin
The concept of original sin is an important part of our faith as we believe that human beings are born into a sinful nature. Original sin is not a personal sin that we commit ourselves, but rather a concept that we are born into. This means that even infants who have not yet committed personal sins are still affected by original sin.
The Effects of Sin
According to Catholic doctrine, original sin has a number of negative impacts on people. We become more susceptible to sin as a result, and our misguided impulses and selfish tendencies grow stronger. Second, it results in physical death as a result of Adam and Eve’s original sin. Third, it puts up a roadblock between us and God that we are powerless to cross on our own.
How then can we redeem ourselves from original sin? Should we just resign to our fate or can we actually be cleansed of our misgivings?
Redeeming yourself from the original sin
1. Embrace salvation
Salvation is confessing with your mouth and believing with your heart that Jesus is Lord. It is also believing that He died on the cross to atone for your sins. Redemption from the bondage of sin and the chains of the original sin can only be found through our Lord and Savior – Jesus Christ.
Before He came to the world, the human race was helpless. God had distanced Himself from us because Satan had sowed the seed of sin and God could no longer fellowship with Adam like He used to in the beginning. From the abundance of His love, God created a way to reunite with us.
The channel of reunion is through salvation and belief in His Son, Jesus Christ. Your sins are written off and you have a second chance to live sin-free and cultivate your relationship with God. Jesus Christ is giving you an opportunity to start life on a clean slate by being born again and accepting salvation.
2. Embrace grace
Grace is divine intervention to live a sin-free life. Although it is difficult not to succumb to the temptations of sin, Jesus Christ makes it possible not to. We have received salvation by the grace of God – not deserving of it at all but saved by His unconditional love.
Do not pull back when God brings good things your way. You deserve it as everyone does, by His grace. Sin does not exist under grace; it only does under the law. When the law forbids you from certain things and you go ahead to do them, it is counted as a sin to you. On the contrary, there is no sin for you if you do not live under the law.
Grace is found only in the salvation that is brought by Jesus Christ. You can redeem yourself from the original sin by living under grace, not the law. You will not be trapped in sin because of the freedom of salvation.
3. Practice obedience
The original sin was disobedience and you can undo it by doing the opposite – being obedient. An obedient believer walks in the ways of God and is not lured by sin. A lot of things go wrong when you are disobedient.
It cost our first parents their fellowship with God, eternal life, and all the provisions that were in the garden of Eden. God is allowing you to reverse this and gain or lose by merit of your obedience, not that of our first parents anymore.
Obedience is the good seed that you should sow as a believer. It is the antidote to the poison of disobedience. You can redeem yourself from the original sin and accept God’s salvation by doing things in the right way – in the Godly way of obedience.
4. Be an ambassador of His Kingdom
An ambassador of a highly respected person wherever they go. He/she is the face of the brand they represent and is very careful to live correctly in the eyes of the public. Their lives are under close public observation.
Some habits are not expected from an ambassador let alone rumors about them. It has serious effects that could cost the office holder the office they hold. Why? Because they are bringing dishonor to the office of an ambassador. You can be an ambassador of salvation to redeem yourself from the original sin. Your new role as an ambassador will make you live a holier life as you take up duties of the Kingdom.
God will see your efforts to bring more people to salvation and free you from the original sin so that you can show many people the light. This is the chief benefit of being an ambassador.
Accepting salvation is the best decision of a lifetime you can make. There are endless benefits to salvation but the major one is living a guilt-free and sin-free life. You have seen the light!
